The course was awesome and I learned a ton.  When the course ended, it was really time to get started.

Since then, I’ve done some other things with my TESOL certificate, like focus on recruitment, assessment, and curriculum planning. 🙂

I’m so glad I got my TESOL Certificate at English for Life because I love the diversity it has brought to my campus.

My advice you if you’re thinking about teaching English or teaching abroad? study another language yourself. Then jump right in!

...I wasn’t sure it was right for me, but I figured it couldn’t hurt because I didn’t know what job I wanted after school graduation...

When the TESOL course ended, it was really time to get started. First, I volunteer taught for a semester. That was a stressful experience because I was also a full time student.

Since then, I’ve done some other things with my TESOL certificate, like got a job teaching in Japan with JET! I leave in August...

...When the course ended, it was really time to get started. First, I returned to Ghana to gain experience at an international school . That was a great experience because I learned a lot about academia and was able to serve the local community.

Next, I took a job in South Korea. The best part about it was testing my level of endurance on the other side of the world.

I’m so glad I got my TESOL Certificate at English for Life because Kim and her team are really nice, fun people who want to help you achieve your dreams and personal goals...

Before I got my TESOL Certificate in 2015, I was unhappy working as a classroom Spanish teacher. I wasn’t sure it was right for me, but I figured it couldn’t hurt because I genuinely love working with people and wanted to do something to help better their lives.

So I signed up.  The course was AWESOME and I learned vital information and techniques that could immediately be applied.  I can honestly say that everything that I was taught was useful, which is a rarity for many courses these days.  None of the assignment were given as punishment nor as "busy work." Ain't nobody got time for that!

When the course ended, it was really time to get started. First, I took the Praxis II ESOL exam in April and began applying for jobs in late May. That was an affirming experience because I passed the test with flying colors.

Next, I interviewed for a teaching position in late June. The best part about it was I interviewed one day before leaving the country to go on a month-long vacation (to find myself) in Colombia. I was offered the job on my third day in Colombia!  I got a new dream job while ON VACATION!

Since then, I’ve done some other things with my TESOL certificate, like educational translation and volunteering with AGAPE Hospice.

I’m so glad I got my TESOL Certificate at English for Life because it has opened up so many more opportunities for me to serve others that I never even knew existed.  And, my ESOL teacher, Kim Carroll, she is the best. She is truly a beautiful person and SMART. She tells you exactly what you need to know without the fluff. I met her while out salsa dancing (at random) years prior.  I could have kicked my own self in the rear for not having taken her class sooner. I'm glad I came to my senses when I did.

My advice to you if you’re thinking about teaching English or teaching abroad is DON'T WAIT. Do it NOW!

*This is my celebration picture from when I received the job offer while in Colombia.  True story.*
